CHRISTMAS INSPIRATION

CHRISTMAS INSPIRATION

CHRISTMAS INSPIRATION

The traditional colour of Christmas is red, from Santa’s coat to the beautiful red berry holly bush. The long cold winter days are brightened by a splash of red in hedgerows.  When it comes to decorating  trends have moved to the neutral palettes but Christmas is the time to think of bring warmth into the house.

There is nothing more delightful than a festive dining room. Christmas is not far away but there is still an opportunity to give your dining room a festive look. Paint the walls in deep red for drama while keeping the woodwork in pure white or soft white for a perfect contrast.  Add festive decoration and candles and you are ready to entertain, but be warned, the ambience will make your guests want to linger.

If all red is a little too adventurous for you simple add red accessories, re-upholster tired dated chairs with dramatic red fabric and they will look beautiful throughout the year.  Neutral greys can be enlivened by the use of contrasting rich red.

To bring seasonal cheer and colour to rooms decorated in neutrals simply add a few red cushions for winter warmth and you are ready for the addition of the Christmas Tree and decorations.

Smaller dining tables may not have the space to add extra decoration so think about hanging Christmas decorations from the light fitting or chandelier or simply hang small branches with battery lights.

Don’t panic if you have forgotten to plan a centre piece for you table, this  simple solution will look fantastic at very little cost. Holly sprigs will look enchanting when placed under wine glasses with candles on top or place into glasses of water with floating candles. To create depth for the centre piece place a mirror under the arrangement.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
