Results for Bandon Agricultural Show’s Super Young Heifer Class

Bandon Co-op Agri Feeds were delighted to sponsor of a new class in this year’s Bandon Show which took place on Sunday May 22nd.

 

The new class was created in the Beef Section and was called "The Bandon Co-op Cork County Super Commercial Young Heifer" and had substantial prize money for exhibitors.

 

In general, these super classes attract great interest from exhibitors and commercial breeders across the country in the few shows in Ireland that they are held in. It is for that reason that Bandon Show; Cattle Committee decided this year to install this new class in the Show.

 

There was keen interest in the new class with exhibitors coming from Cork County, Limerick, Clare, the Midlands and other counties.

 

The winners in the Bandon Co-op Cork County Super Commercial Young Heifer Class were as follows:

1st:  Derrick Forde, Cahermorris, Corrandulla, Galway (€500 prizemoney).

2nd: William Gubbins, Cush House, Kilfinnane, Limerick (€350 prizemoney).

3rd:  David Hegarthy, Currevreeda, Bandon (€150 prizemoney).

4th:  Tim O Donovan, Gurtnamuckla, Dunmanway, Co. Cork (€50 prizemoney).

 

Bandon Co-op are delighted to be associated with the sponsorship of this new class and already have a very long association with Bandon Show. We have sponsored classes in the Dairy Section for years. However, this year for the first time, we supported the Beef Section of the Show to support the efforts of the Show to broaden the horizon of the Beef Section.

The result of the Junior Cow Championship (also sponsored by Bandon Co-op) were:

1st: Ricky Barrett, The Elms, Adamstown, Ballinhassig

2nd: Pearse O'Sullivan, Ardfield, Clonakilty

3rd: Robert and Sylvia Helen Lyre, Clonakilty 

We are delighted that once again the Bandon Agricultural Show proved to me a massive success and credit is due to the Committee and organisers with special mention to Chairperson, Anne Crowley and Secretary of the Cattle Section, Myra Dineen.
