Milk Quality Standards
A critical prerequisite for the manufacture of quality dairy products is to start with milk of the highest quality. Dairy farmers have a responsibility to ensure that all milk offered for sale is properly produced in compliance with all relevant legislation and practices, that it is fit for human consumption and meets all the standards relating to the production and supply of milk.
For the consumer, milk quality is important with regards to its appearance, taste, flavour and its potential impact on health. For the milk processor or manufacturer of dairy products and ingredients, milk quality can also impact product quality and yield.
