Bandon Co-op offers New Specialised Feed that Increases Butterfat!

Overcoming the problem of low Butterfat.

Low butterfat yields are a common problem on dairy farms in late spring. When calved cows are released to pasture their diet composition changes dramatically from a high fibre silage diet to a low fibre, highly digestible diet. The majority of milk fat is synthesised from the products of fibre digestion. Grass swards especially those which are heavily fertilized in order to maintain sward productivity are often low in structural fibre and high in soluble sugars. As a result milk fat levels often drop off when cows graze these swards.

Bandon Co-op’s new dairy cube ‘Butterbooster’ is specifically formulated with high levels of digestible fibre and added protected fat to counteract the drop in butterfat levels.
