How to Update your Kitchen with Paint

YOUR SURFACE MUST BE CLEAN, DRY AND SOUND BEFORE YOU START ANY PAINTING JOB.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Proper surface preparation is crucial to maximum finish performance.

  • Clean surface with degreaser cleaner e.g sugar soap
  • Allow surface to dry
  • Lightly sand with fine sandpaper
  • Remove dust

APPLICATION OF PRIMER:

Depending on the surface you are painting your primer may change. For any Hardwoods, gloss varnishes, gloss paints, formica, veneer, MDF, melamine and laminates please follow the below:

  • Can be applied with brush, roller or spray
  • Apply one coat of Colourtrend Prime 2
  • Allow 20 -30 minutes to be touch dry (time depending on drying conditions)
  • Recoat in 45-60 minutes (time depending on drying conditions)
  • Allow to dry fully

If painting unpainted new hardwood or heavily sanded hardwood Colourtrend Prime1 would be recommended instead of Prime 2 as it has stain blocking properties and will prevent tannin bleed.

Note: if the surface you are painting is not listed above please refer to our ‘Colourtrend Prime’ booklet.

APPLICATION OF TOP COAT:

  • Choose between Colourtrend Eggshell, Satin, or Gloss in your desired colour. For a tougher finish use Sustain Acrylic Top Coat (wb50)
  • Can be applied with brush, roller or spray
  • Apply one coat of chosen colour/finish
  • Allow to dry (recoat in 6-8 hours depending on drying conditions)
  • Apply second coat of chosen colour/finish
  • Allow to dry
