How to Paint PVC windows

SURFACE PREPARATION:


Proper surface preparation is crucial to maximum finish performance. The durability of this product can be impaired by an unsound or poorly prepared surface. Surfaces must be clean, dry and sound before painting.

 

  • Treat any spots of mould or mildew where necessary.
  • Clean thoroughly with degreaser cleaner e.g. sugar soap. paying extra attention to window handles.
  • Allow to dry completely.


APPLICATION OF PRIMER:


Apply one coat of appropriate primer.
We recommend Prime 1 or Prime 3 for coating PVC finishes.


APPLICATION OF UNDERCOAT:


Apply one coat of Colourtrend Undercoat. This will create an even surface for the topcoat and can be tinted to any 4 of our foundation coat colours.


APPLICATION OF TOP COAT:

Choose between Colourtrend Eggshell, Satin or Gloss in your desired colour.
Can be applied with brush, roller or spray

  • Apply one coat of chosen colour and finish
  • Allow to dry (recoat in 6-8 hours depending on drying conditions)
  • Apply second coat of chosen colour and finish
  • Allow to dry

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

  • Sugar Soap or Degreaser
  • Cloths
  • Brush and/or roller
  • Colourtrend Prime 1 or Prime 3
  • Colourtrend Undercoat
  • Colourtrend paint in the colour and finish of your choice


HINTS & TIPS

  • Coating will achieve full adhesion in seven days.
  • Primers come in an oil, shellac or water base; all bases are suitable with Colourtrend Undercoat.
  • Surfaces must be clean, dry and sound before painting.

NOTE: COATING WILL ACHIEVE FULL ADHESION IN SEVEN DAYS.
